About LuxeCrush ®

“From Street to Chic, Atlanta Curated in One Click.”

What We Are:

LuxeCrush® is a chic, playful, smart and highly curated online magazine covering everything lifestyle and culture-related in Atlanta. We’ve vetted the city and we’ve done all the hard (but fun!) work of distilling and delivering it to you with one click of the mouse. LuxeCrush aims to be the ultimate arbiter for the latest and best of Atlanta culture, style, shops, restaurants, intriguing local personalities, home décor, design, film, art, prime real estate, trends, travel, fashion, beauty and buzz, etc. Plus, we will maintain a comprehensive cultural and social calendar so you won’t miss a single soirée or marquee event. Consider LuxeCrush your “cultural concierge” to the city.

And did we mention loads of photos of the most prestigious, A-list bashes in Atlanta--whether social galas, designer cocktails, or avant-garde art openings (many more events and photos than can fit in a print publication)? We admit it, we all have a bit of the social voyeur in us and this is your quintessential source for conventionally approved forms of social eavesdropping. Heard about a brilliant bash? Chances are, we have posted it on LuxeCrush virtually the next morning.

Because Atlantans, as a whole, are a cosmopolitan crowd, we will also connect Atlanta to the larger national and international scene in terms of style, culture and trends. So you will find a “halo” of the best and most glamorous national/international stories overlaying the Atlanta-centric fare--whether the buzziest flicks or le scandal from the Cannes Film Festival, the futuristic furniture finds from Salone Milan, the hottest restaurant ticket right now in Barcelona, or the most ravishing red carpet frocks from the Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala. LuxeCrush is both hyper-local and worldly, embodying the elegant intersection of style and substance.

We are not a blog. We are an online magazine with in-depth, well-researched features on the most fascinating aspects of your city, as well as short, buzzy, newsy blurbs to hopefully keep you addicted and logging on weekly, if not daily, for the ever-changing content. In addition, our content is presented in a highly visual fashion, just like a glossy print magazine, with a premium on lots of luxurious photos. LuxeCrush is a one-woman creation and operation at present (aside from a few freelance contributors), with no currrent investors, and the site is entirely dependent on local advertising support for its existence, so a special thanks to all of our blue-chip advertiser patrons, past and present. See our list of exclusive advertisers from The Ritz-Carlton to Saks Fifth Avenue and High Museum of Art in our "Advertising" section of the site. At LuxeCrush we embrace architects, designers, chefs, artists, mixologists, high-tech innovators, renegades, stylists, filmmakers, entrepreneurs, rebels, iconoclasts and bon vivants…to name just a few!

We define luxury as any of the following: craftsmanship, connoisseurship, elegance, inventiveness, talent, refinement, good taste, pleasure, erudition, originality, humor, cutting-edge daring and maybe a soupçon of mischievous wit.

LuxeCrush celebrates “the good life,” however you define it--a divine piece of artisanal chocolate, a fabulous music dive, or a guerilla art performance. It can be street cart fare, an underground supper club, or a white tablecloth feast; a hip-hop photographer or an exhibit at The High Museum; edgy bullet bracelets by a rock n’ roll jewelry designer or estate pieces worthy of dame Elizabeth Taylor. Culture and style are the main through-lines and we at LuxeCrush hope to bring these to you in spades!

LuxeCrush® Founder/ Editor-in-Chief: Nancy Staab

Nancy Staab has been a veteran print journalist, writer and editor in the luxury lifestyle niche for over 12 years. Nancy moved to Atlanta in 2006 to serve as the editor of PaperCity Atlanta, a chic, witty, lifestyle magazine with a cult following founded by the inestimable Holly Moore. In 2007 Nancy relocated to Houston, Texas, where she served as the Executive Editor of PaperCity Houston and Dallas. While there, she produced several special sections, including a multi-page tribute to Giorgio Armani, working closely with Armani’s U.S. press team, and an anniversary mini-magazine insert for Neiman Marcus, as well as many feature stories such as a profile of the original (and very colorful) former Congressman Charlie Wilson and Joanne Herring King during the release of the movie Charlie Wilson’s War. In 2008 Nancy returned to her favorite city of Atlanta to serve as Editor-in-Chief of Modern Luxury Media’s The Atlantan magazine. During her tenure, she recruited many of the city’s top writers and photographer talents as staffers and recurring contributors. She also revamped the magazine to be more competitive in the local market and more resonant with its sophisticated local readership--carefully weathering the recession of 2009. Foremost a writer, Nancy penned pieces for each issue that ranged from a profile of global designer Karim Rashid and 1st dibs founder Michael Bruno, to a home feature on interior designer Suzanne Kasler.  In 2011 Nancy left The Atlantan in order to develop and create her own concept for a unique and highly curated online city magazine, LuxeCrush. LuxeCrush is focused primarily on the city of Atlanta, but also covers national and international lifestyle topics.

Prior to her move to Atlanta, Nancy  travelled throughout the Southeast as an interiors editor at Time Inc.'s Southern Living magazine for approximately a year before being recruited to sister magazine Southern Accents, where she served as a  senior editor for nearly five years. While at Southern Accents, she was responsible for writing, producing, shooting, styling and editing the architecture and gardens sections of the magazine.

Prior to publishing, Nancy served three years as the Marketing Director of the boutique architectural firm then known as Thompson and Rose Architects in Boston. While there, her marketing efforts helped the firm win many national and regional architecture awards and AIA accolades, as well as competitive commissions with internationally renowned architects as co-finalists. She also secured  publication of Thompson and Rose's work  in numerous magazines such as Architectural Digest, ID magazine, Architecture and Wallpaper, and book deals with noted publishers like Taschen.

Nancy has contributed features to Elle Décor, Southern Accents, Entrée magazine (devoted to Neiman Marcus’ prestige InCircle clients), Southern Living magazine, Southern Living Weddings,  Design Times, Harvard Magazine, Dartmouth Alumni Magazine and other lifestyle publications. Her specialties are home décor, design, art and culture, books and anything style-related such as fashion, travel and trends. Nancy is a graduate of Dartmouth College with special honors in English Literature and a minor in Art History. She spent the summer of 1990 studying art history in Florence, Italy. She then  earned her Masters and her Ph.D. in English Literature with a major in Renaissance literature and minor in 19th century literature from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2000.

Nancy  is a member of the Atlanta History Center Guild, Atlanta Corps de Ballet, the High Museum of Art, Atlanta Botanical Garden, the Shepherd Center Society, Fashion Group International- International Chapter and Atlanta Chapter, and is a Lifetime Member of Friends of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Nancyworks and resides in Buckhead and enjoys the people, the weather,  the proverbial Southern charms and the many cultural offerings of the city of Atlanta. Although she was raised primarily in Kansas City, she likes to think that her first six years spent as a child in Virginia qualify her as a Southerner (just humor her).
